Magnet Care

You received your custom track magnet now it's time to make sure they last. Proper cleaning and care is essential to ensure they continue to perform at their best. Attached below are guidelines regarding your magnet and the best practices to keep them in excellent condition.

Cleaning

Magnets will collect dirt, debris and moisture over time especially when used on the track. This can interfere with the magnetic properties and cause deterioration if left unattended. Proper cleaning methods include:

  • Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
  • Microfiber cloth

Clean the surface with a lightly damp soft microfiber towel with rubbing alcohol. Be sure to wipe down the magnet's surface to ensure it has fully dried. Avoid using water as it can cause water spots or corrosion. It is best to clean track magnets often if used regularly or exposed to extreme weather conditions.

Care

It is important to properly store and handle your magnet when not in use. Here are some tips for making sure your magnet last:

  • Storage: When stacking the magnets, make sure the magnetic sides (unprinted side) do NOT adhere together. This can affect the magnetic properties in the future. In addition, be sure that the magnets are laid flat on a level surface when not in use.

Application

Magnets are intended to be used a certain way especially when on a moving vehicle. If not followed, this can lead to lift off and potentially losing your magnet. Please be sure to follow these steps to avoid such occurrence.

  • Place the magnet on a smooth, flat surface or gently curved surfaces. Avoid placing the magnet on harsh curves.
  • Avoid air pockets by ensuring the magnet makes full contact with the surface.
  • Do NOT place the magnet over any obstructions or decals. Obstructions can include vehicle molding, dents, etc.
  • The magnetic properties are stronger in cold temperatures. If using on a hot day, it is recommended to apply tape along the edges of your magnet especially during track day. This will help to ensure the magnet does not lift off.
  • It is not recommended to use your magnet in extreme weather conditions. Such examples include rainy days and high winds. If unavoidable, please use tape along the edges.

Common Mistakes

  • Hot surface: If your vehicle has an extremely hot surface from being in the sun, it may affect the adhesive.
  • Incompatible surface: Not all surface are magnetic. Avoid non-metallic, aluminum, plastic, fiberglass, carbon surfaces as the magnet will not adhere to these properties. Magnets will only adhere to steel material.
  • Placement: Be sure to place your magnet properly on your vehicle.
  • Sizing: We offer multiple sizes when it comes to the track magnets. Please be sure that the size chosen fits on your door without any issues or obstructions in the way.

Proper cleaning and care is needed to ensure your magnets retain their strength and functionality. Be sure to follow the steps and tips above to help keep your magnetic in prime condition.
