HOW TO INSTALL & MAINTAIN CAR MAGNETS
You received your custom track magnet now it's time to make sure they last. Although they are weatherproof and durable, they still require proper application, maintenance and storage. Attached below are guidelines regarding your magnet and the best practices to keep them in excellent condition.Â
Delivery
Car magnets are typically rolled up during shipment to prevent damage, so it’s essential that you allow it to flatten before use. This can be done so by laying it on a flat surface, or adhering it to a magnetic surface such as a fridge. It is crucial to flatten your magnet as it provides stronger adhesive properties.Â
Application
Magnets are intended to be used a certain way especially when on a moving vehicle. If not followed, this can lead to lift off and potentially losing your magnet. Please be sure to follow these steps to avoid such incident.
- Clean the surfaces: Wash and dry the area where the magnet will be applied. Also clean the magnetic side of the magnet as well if needed. Any dust, dirt, or moisture can reduce adhesion and cause damage.
- Ensure a flat surface: Place the magnet on a smooth, flat surface or gently curved surfaces. Avoid placing the magnet on harsh curves.Â
- Apply slowly and evenly: Lay the magnet flat against the metal surface, pressing from the center outward to remove air pockets.
- Check for Secure Fit: Make sure all edges are flush against the vehicle to prevent wind lift while driving.
- Proper environment: The magnetic properties are best around 60°F or above.
Things NOT to do:
- Do not place the magnet over any obstructions or decals. Obstructions can include vehicle molding, dents, vinyl graphics etc.Â
- Never apply a magnet that has been rolled with the magnetic surface facing out.
- It is not recommended to use your magnet in extreme weather conditions. Such examples include heavy rain, high winds and snowy days.
- It is best to not leave the magnet on your vehicle 24/7 and remove it periodically. Removing the magnet allows you to clean and prevent dirt buildup. This also helps to protect your vehicle's paint.Â
- When in doubt, align blue tape along the edge of your magnet. This will help prevent air from getting underneath, which can lead to liftoff.Â

MaintenanceÂ
Magnets will collect dirt, debris and moisture over time especially when used on the track. This can interfere with the magnetic properties and cause deterioration if left unattended. Proper care methods include:
- Remove and Clean: Remove the magnet and clean both sides with a damp microfiber with Isopropyl alcohol. Dry thoroughly before application or storage.Â
- Avoid Prolonged Sun Exposure: Long-term exposure to direct sunlight can cause the magnet to become too hot and warp. It is best to not leave the magnet on your vehicle for a prolonged time especially in the summer. Remove it and let it cool before reapplying
- Remove before car washes: Always remove the magnet before washing your vehicle.Â
Storage
It is important to properly store and handle your magnet when not in use. Here are some tips for making sure your magnet last.
- Storage: When stacking the magnets, make sure the magnetic sides (unprinted side) do NOT adhere together. This can affect the magnetic properties in the future. If possible, store the magnets individually and not stacked.Â
- Lay flat: Be sure that the magnets are laid flat on a level surface when not in use. Avoid rolling or folding the magnet.Â
- Keep in a Cool, Dry Place:Â Heat and humidity can cause warping or damage over time. Keep magnetic signs in a clean, dry place at room temperature.
Common Mistakes
- Extreme weather: If possible, remove the magnet during heavy rain, wind or snow. Apply tape along the edges if not avoidable.Â
- Incompatible surface: Not all surface are magnetic. Avoid non-metallic, aluminum, plastic, fiberglass, carbon surfaces as the magnet will not adhere to these properties. Magnets will only adhere to steel material.
- Placement: Be sure to place your magnet properly on your vehicle on a completely flat surface.Â
- Sizing: We offer multiple sizes when it comes to the track magnets. Please be sure that the size chosen fits on your door without any issues or obstructions in the way.
Proper cleaning and care is needed to ensure your magnets retain their strength and functionality. Be sure to follow the steps and tips above to help keep your magnetic in prime condition.Â
